Thomas A. Garrett

Tom Garrett is a senior research fellow in the Center for Economics and the Environment and an associate professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Mississippi. His primary areas of interest are state and local public finance, public choice, and applied microeconomics.

Dr. Garrett's experience includes serving as assistant vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, adjunct assistant professor at Washington University in St. Louis, assistant professor at Kansas State University, and a post-doctoral fellow at West Virginia University. He has published numerous papers in scholarly journals, such as the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Economic History, and Regional Science and Urban Economics.

Dr. Garrett received his BS in business administration from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania (1993) and his MA and PhD in economics from West Virginia University (1997, 1998).
