Joshua Hall

Josh Hall is an Associate Professor of Economics and the Director of the Center for Free Enterprise at the University of West Virginia.  Dr. Hall's research interests include applied microeconomics, with an emphasis on economic freedom, state and local public finance and entrepreneurship.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Hall was the Elbert H. Neese, Jr. Professor of Economics at Beloit College, where he also served as an assistant professor from 2007-2013.  Dr. Hall has published numerous articles in scholarly journals, including the Cato Journal, the Journal of Economics and Economic Education Research, the Journal of Labor Research, the Journal of Private Enterprise, and Public Choice.  In addition to his articles, he is the author, co-author or editor of 19 books, including several annual editions of the Economic Freedom of the World Report.  Dr. Hall also serves as the editor or on the editorial board of six different journals.

Dr. Hall received his BBA in business economics from Ohio University (1997), his MA in economics from Ohio University (1999), and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of West Virginia (2007).
