Carol M. Felzien

Carol Felzien serves as Director of Administration for the Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise located in the Plaster School of Business & Entrepreneurship (PSB&E) at Lindenwood University. In her current capacity, she’s responsible for day-to-day operations in addition to public relations, marketing, and special event planning on behalf of the Hammond Institute.


From a community relations standpoint, Felzien represents the Plaster School of Business and the Hammond Institute at a number external organizations, including the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce and Progress 64 in West St. Louis County. She also manages an event eNewsletter, the Hammond speakers bureau, media relations, advertising, social media, brand awareness, and all promotional and collateral materials.


In 2017, Felzien implemented a statewide Op-Ed campaign in conjunction with the Missouri Press Association.  In promoting articles written by faculty members and staff, the Institute reached over 600,000 newspaper subscribers statewide in the first six months of the program’s existence. Likewise, under her tutelage, the Institute began sponsoring the We Live Here podcast on St. Louis Public Radio providing further visibility for Plaster, Hammond and Lindenwood University at large.


Felzien has more than 30 years of experience in the public relations arena – both corporate and non-profit – having formerly worked in the fields of telecommunications, health care, and transportation. Most recently, she served St. Charles for nearly a decade as the City’s first-ever Director of Communication, and presently serves as a member of the PSB&E Advisory Council at Lindenwood on behalf of faculty and staff under the direction of Dean P. Roger Ellis, J.D., and also participates on the Plaster Centennial Anniversary planning committee.


Felzien received her B.A. in English with a minor in writing from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  She is currently pursuing a M.A. in Nonprofit Administration at Lindenwood University.
